Dr. Trent Bowen grew up in the Phoenix East Valley and graduated from Highland High School. During high school and college, he developed an interest in eye care. The ability to help people improve their vision and to prevent blindness with advanced technology and surgery set Dr. Bowen on a path to becoming an ophthalmologist. Dr. Bowen has always been fascinated by the human eye, appreciating its incredible optics in the front and captivating biology in the back —the optics that ultimately connect to the brain to create the body’s most important sense: vision.

He graduated with a degree in physics from Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University. During his undergraduate years, he worked as a technician in an eye doctor’s office and volunteered in Ghana with Unite for Sight. He went on to receive his MD from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. He graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society at the top of his class. Additionally, he was nominated to the Gold Humanism Honor Society by his peers thanks to his deep commitment to compassionate and kind patient care.

Dr. Bowen completed a one-year internal medicine internship at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix. He then went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, a program well-known for its high-quality and high-volume eye health and eye surgery training. He also served as the chief resident during his senior year.

Dr. Bowen then completed a one-year glaucoma fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Dr. Bowen has a strong interest in providing the best, most innovative glaucoma care. He has experience in all forms of glaucoma including medical, laser, and surgical therapies, and provides personalized glaucoma care for all of his patients with glaucoma.
Additionally, Dr. Bowen is committed to increasing our understanding of glaucoma in order to better serve patients who are suffering from the condition. Dr. Bowen’s research has been published and presented at national scientific meetings. Dr. Bowen enjoys teaching and learning from colleagues and has contributed to writing a chapter in a glaucoma textbook.

Dr. Bowen also offers the latest advances in cataract surgery and cataract treatment using the most up-to-date premium lens implant options.

When not in the office, Dr. Bowen enjoys spending time with his wife and son. He enjoys long-distance running, playing guitar and bass, and hiking throughout beautiful Arizona.
